Super 8 <3

So on Sunday I had the opportunity to go see Super 8.
It is now one of my favorite movies, if not my favorite. I really really loved it. (THIS MOVIE WAS MINT. MINT. |D ) And I'm kind of obsessed with it now. So..

Ok, so going into the movie my expectations were already really high. My friend and I were freaking out about the movie so much before it even came out. He was really excited because he loves Steven Spielberg, I was really excited because I love J.J. Abrams (creator of Lost!!) and we were both really excited because Michael Giacchino was scoring the movie!

Run from the explosion, Joe, run!!! D8

(both gifs found at hellyeahsuper8, on tumblr)

Anyway, the movie itself was just amazing. It really felt like a mix between classic Steven Spielberg movies, and the style of J.J. Abrams. It had just the right amount of humor, action, and sci-fi goodness. xD;; But I think what I liked most about the movie was that while the plot/all of the action was great, I really loved how well the audience got to know the characters, and it brought a lot of charm to the movie. Joe and Alice were adorable, Cary (the explosives kid!! 8D ) was amazing, and the rest of the kids were hilarious. ("He's too stoned! Drugs are so bad!! ;A; " )

Plus as an added bonus, J.J. threw in some Lost references, as well as references to some of his other shows and whatnot! I was really happy. 8D Though I actually only noticed one of the Lost references while watching the movie, I looked up the other two afterwards and felt stupid for not making the connections. xD;;

Also today I was browsing around tumblr and I found this video and it kind of blew my mind:

This is apparently a secret/extra map that was put into Portal 2! When people first found out about it, Super 8 hadn't been released yet and a lot of people didn't know what it was, or thought that it was part of some Portal 2 ARG. However, it's actually an interactive map of a scene from Super 8!! It's really really awesome, you're actually /inside/ the train and get to experience the crash from the inside!! :D This video kind of made my day when I saw this. Portal 2 + Secret Super 8 Promotion = AWESOME. Though I can see why people were initially confused about it, it wouldn't make much sense if you haven't seen the movie. XD;;

I leave you with a song from the Super 8 soundtrack:

I am forcing everyone to go see this movie
Everyone should go see this movie! Even though my opinion is somewhat biased, I really enjoyed it a lot and it was such a good movie. <33 I mean, come on! It has a giant alien, kids running around with explosives, and an amazing soundtrack! What's not to love?

Aww I hope you do get a chance to go see it! I saw it again on Friday actually, my friend has seen it 3 times. xD;; I still want to see it in IMAX though. o3o
I didn't know about it either, until it popped up on my tumblr. XD;; Though I think the video gives instructions in the little commentary box on how to access it on the console version? That would be awesome if you're able to get it! 8D

XD IMAX would be super cool. o3o I was thinking of trying to go see it at the Drive-In, so I could see Super 8 and Transformers at the same time. It's hard to find a chance to go though, since I have to wake up for work most mornings. (Or if I don't, the people that could take me do.) XD;; Gah.
Oooh, I will have to try that. o3o
